Where can I download Windows Movie Maker?

Windows Movie Maker is no longer available for download from the Microsoft website. This is because support for the product was discontinued as of January 2017. For users of Windows Vista and earlier, the program comes pre-loaded with the operating system. But for those using Windows 7 and later, you may be wondering, "where did Windows Movie Maker go?"

First, point your browser to https://www.winmoviemaker.com. Then, click on the red download now button. You will also have the option to select the language. Once the download commences, the installer file will automatically correspond to the language of your choosing.

There are other third-party websites that offer Windows Movie Maker downloads. However, be very careful as many of them are known scams. If you have downloaded an installer file from another source, you can check the legitimacy by right clicking on the installer file icon and clicking on properties. Then, go to the Digital Signatures tab and you will be able to verify ifthis file is indeed the original file released by the software publisher (i.e. Microsoft Corporation) and not altered by a third party.

Click into the details tab and you will see additional information confirming that the publisher is indeed Microsoft Corporation. If you find any files that do not show Microsoft as the publisher, DO NOT INSTALL the file as it is not the original.

The download file on our site is completely safe as it is the unaltered, original installation file that was released by Microsoft. The download button links to archive.org, which continues to host the original installation file that was released by Microsoft before it was discontinued.
